The only problem – Eastertide2 Friday

He himself knew exactly what he was going to do.  Jesus is not a fool or an idiot.  He does not make mistakes or forget things.  He knows all things.  All being is under his feet.  Those in him are thus immovable, untouchable, secured in love for eternity.  The Lord is my light and my help; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life; before whom shall I shrink?

So when he chooses to show his glory by taking a tuna sandwich, he knows what he is doing.  And we are those tuna sandwiches.  Often we can be thrown off balance by the shocking discovery of our limitedness, our poverty, our inability to do as we truly desire.  Do not be afraid.  Jesus shows us that the only problem is whether or not the bread and fish rest in his hand.  He does not simply wait for them either: as we see in the gospel, he goes in search of them, asking the saints, Where is he?  Where is she?  Where is my beloved?

This is our only concern: that we be in the hands of Jesus.  That if we fall out, or get tricked out, that we do not hesitate, and ask him immediately to pick us up.  He never says no, go away.  Hope in him, hold firm and take heart.  Hope in the Lord!
