What Jesus said about how to live – Eastertide4 Friday

You know the way.  We’ve reached a point in Christianity where some people believe in Jesus, yet aren’t sure how Christians should live.  This is not a new question Thomas asks it today: Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus’ comments are interesting however: even before Thomas asks the question, he is saying you already know what you are meant to live, and how. And he explains it in his answer to Thomas: No one can come to the Father except through me.  So living as a Christian in the 21st century West is very clear: to live like Jesus. To have the understanding of God, and the sacraments, and right and wrong, and sexuality, that he did and, crucially, to live and decide these things with him. So asking how in prayer, within the general principles he proposes through his body the Church, receiving the strength to do so in the sacraments. It is simple, but sometimes, like Naaman the leper, we are too proud to take the simple solution. Let us ask for the gift of humility today, that we are humble enough to strive to be united with Jesus in all things.
