Happiness will be yours if you behave accordingly. Aha! So today Jesus gives us the secret to happiness. How does he say it is found? I tell you solemnly, no servant is greater than his master, no messenger is greater than the man who sent him. At first hearing, it might be a bit of a head scratcher as to why this is happiness. But I think we can isolate a couple of reasons: one of these is the fact that we are not alone, isolated isotopes. We are part of someone else, we belong to someone else – who cares for us: the master. This is great news, as it means we have no worries – not really. The other is element is the fact that no servant is greater than his master. What this means is that Jesus can fill our hearts to overflowing. While if we are the master, there is nothing that can fill our heart, if he is the master, there is no way our heart is other than flooded and full to the brim. Let us turn to our Master, the Eucharist now, asking him to make us more his servants, allowing him more to fill our hearts. Amen.
