Where is the lord, the God of Elijah? He is right here, in our hearts. As Jesus makes clear in today’s Gospel, we don’t have to go far away or stare up at the sky to be able to find God. God is here, within. This is especially so since our baptism, when the Holy Spirit, and the whole Trinity, sanctified us and made us a holy Temple. To be the place where God dwells and where he loves to contemplate the delicacy of our every thought and the beauty of our every act. God loves dwelling with us. But as Jesus asks in the gospel, do we love spending time with him? Do we make time in our daily program to meet with our hearts desire? Go to your private room and, when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in that secret place, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.
